Generative AI, hybrid pipeline for games.
Even though Iām not a game artist, I worked for a leading gaming engine company for 4 years and wanted to test if some of my developments for filmmaking could be applied to create game art.
Below is a very simple test of an isometric game that I put together to test some of these techniques.
The 3D assets were modelled by hand, but the look was created by combining AI and computer graphics, in the same way that I described in the matte painting that I did for The Last of Us.
Camera projections generated with AI in ComfyUI were created for each section of the map. Then baked into UV space for simplicity and to take the final assets into Unity.
The character was created completely with AI, both the geometry and the textures. Then I fixed the topology in Houdini to get a better model that I can deform with a rig.
Below screenshots of my Unity project, where the isometric camera moves with the character and is capable of panning and zooming.
The animations for the character were created using motion capture assisted with AI as I described in other tests.
