I developed a pipeline for scanning, processing, and rendering Gaussian splats to create visual effects shots, both for environments and crowds.

The animation and rendering side of things has evolved drastically over the last few months and is not reflected in the videos below, but I’m already incorporating some of these techniques in my workflows.

Anyway, this is my implementation when it comes to using Gaussian splatting. The most important part, in my opinion, is capturing Gaussian splats on-set; that is what I enjoy the most and what I believe makes a big difference. The technology for processing and rendering is not that important if your input is not great, and that is where I spent a lot of time, either using regular still cameras, drones, or dedicated scanners.
